Javier Barranco, from Almeria, after obtaining his first ATP point at the age of only 16, was proclaimed champion in the ITF JUNIOR tournament in Leiria (Portugal) after defeating the spanish player Alex Dominguez 6-3/6-2 without losing a single set in the whole competition. To reach the final he had to defeat great players such as the English player Dominic West in the semi-finals and the Portuguese Duarte Vale in the quarter-finals.
Javier started the tennis academy less than a year ago, greatly improving his level and his position at a national and international rankings. Last month, he showed how much he had improved by qualifying to play the final of the regional Junior Tournament, losing the final match in 3 sets, just one step away from the title. He also showed his abilities last month in Denmark, where he reached the final of the ITF Junior competition.
These have been the results of the hard work and effort shown by him on and off the courts. Over the following months, Javier Barranco will take part in several international tournaments for his category in Egypt and Pontevedra, as well as some ATP tournaments to keep developing his level and experience.
From the Ferrer Tennis Academy, we want to congratulate and encourage him to keep training with the same motivation he has shown every day.
