The Almerian of 18 years Javier Barranco obtains his first professional title in the ITF Pro Futures tournament $ 25,000 from the Dénia Tennis Club, in Alicante, where last Sunday, July 23, he beat Juan Sebastián Lizariturry 6-1 6-4 in the final.
Winner of 2 junior tournaments in Leiria (Portugal, 2015) and Hammamet (Tunisia, 2016), Barranco had only accessed the quarterfinals of an ITF Pro Futures tournament once, last year in the Vall d’Uixó.
This season he had just passed a round in Bakio before reaching Dénia, where he surprised the second favorite of the draw in the semifinals: the Russian Ivan Gakhov 4-6 6-4 6-0. Juan Lizariturry agreed to his first final of the year defeating Gran Canaria David Vega 6-4 6-3.
The Spanish presence in the quarterfinals was completed with Eduard Esteve, Gerard Granollers and the first seed of the tournament Pedro Martinez Porter, also an ATF player. The latter took the victory in doubles with Ivan Gakhov, winning in the final to Juan Lizariturry and Jaume Pla 7-5 6-7 (7) [11-9].
